Getting Musical

I’m beginning the process of creating music for Baby Foot Diner. I was thinking four songs: two for the start screen and end credits, one for the comic, and one for the game levels. I want the music to be fast-paced, jazzy, energetic, fun, and bright. My inspirations are from Chibi Robo and Tony’s Belated Breakfast by Birocratic.

I play piano and guitar, and I’ve messed around with BandLab in the past, but I’m not good enough at any of these to compose music. I want the music to be of a certain quality, so I’m okay with commissioning someone else to make it for me. At first, I reached out to a former classmate who has made music in the past that I really liked, but that ended up falling through, so now I’m using Fiverr.

I spent a few days looking through a bunch artist to find someone that comes close to what I’m looking for. I’ve found three artists so far, and hopefully once I show them the references, they’ll be able to mimic the style. My only worry with this method is that the songs might not be cohesive 😕.

I saw that Birocratic is allowing people to license his music, so I’ll reach out and see how that goes.

Something that made searching on Fiverr a little difficult was that I don’t know how to categorize the music that I’m getting inspiration form. The Chibi Robo music is jazzy but also electronic but maybe a little bit of pop ???? 😅 How would you describe this music?? Tony’s Belated Breakfast has a similar sound and it’s categorized as chillhop. I tried searching chillhop into Fiverr and all the results were just too relaxing. I don’t want players to be relaxed 😂.

I’m going to start reaching out to the artists on Fiverr. Hopefully I can get some good music for the game. Wish me luck 🍀 ⭐
